Y'all Complain Too Much

Complaining is draining, and does very little to affect positive change, especially when done online.

300 years ago, the average person wasn't granted the freedom to have an opinion, let alone have a platform to share that opinion. Social media is really new, and with anything new, we're going to be tripping over ourselves to figure it out. The big observation I've realized is how people assume they're entitled to their opinions on here, when really, we're really only entitled to an INFORMED opinion. The challenge with getting informed is that it takes work, much more work than reading a headline and spewing our thoughts at it. We all like to be noticed, and leaving some vile stuff in someone's comment section is one of the easiest ways to get noticed (ever notice that the majority of your comments are kind, but the unkind ones are the ones that stick out the most?).

Complaining on the internet achieves very little, and I challenge you to do more than that. If there's something you don't like, decide a solution and become that. If your solution is to simply post about it, then realize you're not doing much. Online Slactivism is a lazy child's way of thinking they're accomplishing something because it's easier than actually doing anything else. The next time you have the urge to complain about something or someone, or get your cancel culture on, decide what needs to happen for things to get better, and DO IT. If you're not willing to put in that work to improve things, then don't bother with the bellyaching either. Telling the world you're offended accomplishes nothing. Cancelling public figures actually gives them more attention. If you can't do anything actionable yourself, then put your money towards those who are, there are always better options than simply complaining.
