We Get the Life We Work For
Oct 14, 2020
I'm not going to patronize you and say "we all have the same 24 hours as #Beyonce". The truth is, nobody has the same freedoms to use their time, but that doesn't mean we can't improve how we spend it.
The first thing I would encourage is to realize that life doesn't owe us, and even if we didn't start in a position of privilege, we're able to create progress. That progress might be chipping away at debt, or turning a million into 10, depending on where you are. Focusing on making things better through baby steps is important to feeling good about the life we have, and bridging the gap towards the life we want.
The second thing is to look at problems differently. So many of us focus on whether the problem should exist or not, and who to blame, instead of realizing it's already here and it has to be dealt with. Our problems aren't always our fault, but since they're our problems, they are now our responsibility; so quit bellyaching, and start addressing, because complaining will do very little.
life isn't fair, never was, never will be. You're more privileged for most, just being able to have access to this post, and having the education to read it, so please, work for the life you want, but also express gratitude for the life you have. We can stare at the top of the mountain and also spend time enjoying how far we've climbed at the same time.
