Losing People is Hard, Losing Ourselves is Harder
Nov 28, 2019
I stopped worrying about people liking me. I also didn’t descend
into a world of trust issues. Instead, I doubled down on my trust for myself. I trust that no matter what happens, I will be able to handle and address it. If someone doesn’t want to be in my life, and they communicate that to me in a passive-aggressive way, that’s fine; I’m better off not having their energy in my life and lucky that at least I know where they stand. It would be worse to have them remain around me with fake hugs and smiles.
Losing people is hard, but losing ourselves while trying to keep others happy is much more expensive. We can’t please everyone, but we can stay true to ourselves. There’s no point in having everyone like us if we don’t like ourselves. Not everything we lose is a loss; often, losing something makes
room for us to recognize who and what we really value in life. #BLESS
