HOW WE JUDGE THE WORLD IS A REFLECTION OF OURSELVES

[SNEAK PEEK FROM THINGS NO ONE ELSE CAN TEACH US]
If things were only good and bad, we’d have to judge ourselves accordingly, and we are far too complex to be reduced to something so simple. We can be good people who make bad decisions. Lord knows I have and will continue to do so, yet that’s how I learn and improve as an individual. I’m able to separate myself from my poor choices—not to absolve myself of the responsibility that comes with them, but rather to avoid tattooing a label onto my forehead based on isolated incidents. When we can do that for ourselves, then we can also do that in relation to others. That level of compassion is needed if we’re going to continue sharing this planet with our fellow humans.

In an age when clickbait is rampant and people think that reading an outrageous headline qualifies them to speak intelligently on any topic, we need to bring back actual understanding. It may not be convenient to read a whole article when it feels like the headline suffices, but it’s essential. In the same way, it’s important to formulate our own opinions instead of simply listening to gossip or other people’s sides of a story. The more information we have, the better we can formulate an informed opinion. How we judge the world is a reflection of how we judge ourselves, and vice versa, so let’s take an extra breath, pause, zoom in, and not be afraid to scratch at life, the world, others, and ourselves to go beneath the surface.
